Paddle Out to Huahine for Great Surf All Year Long!

Monday, January 10th, 2011

If surfing’s your thing, you won’t want to miss the renowned waves of Ava Mo’a Pass; also known as Fare Right. The best surfing on Huahine is found here, and at the pass opposite Fitii.

Keep in mind that surfing in Huahine is not recommended for beginners. There is a 20 minute paddle to get out to Fare Right (some locals prefer taking a boat) where the waves break onto the reef. If you are an experienced surfer and a strong swimmer, bring your board (there are no rentals on Huahine) and enjoy the beautiful scenery and great surfing all year around! You will find the optimum conditions from the months of March to October where the waves are frequent, about 150-450 feet in length, fast and hollow.

The Ultimate Wave Tahiti Premiere is this Monday February 8th, and Tahiti Legends very own Anna Vo (Vice President of Sales and Marketing) will be attending. Make sure to check back with us Monday night for updates from Anna who will be updating from the premiere!

Check out this article about the movie from Transworld Surf.com
:

“Ultimate Wave Tahiti focuses on Tahiti and the islands of French Polynesia, home to the Polynesian seafaring culture and some of the world’s most challenging surfing, as well as astounding coral reef ecosystems that are at the interface between the island and ocean.
“Making The Ultimate Wave Tahiti while surfing Teahupo’o was an amazing experience,” says Slater, nine-time world champion. “The technology used to create this film is going to help audiences understand the incredible power behind waves and will further educate future generations to protect the world’s oceans.”

At the heart of the film is wave formation science that allows viewers to understand the genesis and growth pattern of waves such as Tahiti’s legendary Teahupo’o, that deliver the highest energy density of any renewable resource. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) provided scientific consultation for the film and will be offering a series of film-related community activities about the care and protection of the world’s oceans.

“Quiksilver is honored to premiere The Ultimate Wave Tahiti in Los Angeles next month,” said Bob McKnight, CEO of Quiksilver. “Kelly, Raimana and the filmmakers have worked hard over the last two years to create an educational story that captures the spirit of surfing, the science of the ocean and the awesome power and beauty of Tahiti. We are proud to support this historic film.”
Attendees of the premiere will have an opportunity to feel, first-hand, what it would be like to stand in the barrel of a Tahitian wave thanks to “Small Day at Teahupo’o,” a sculptural installation by artist Blakeney Sanford, who will also display a number of her other surf-themed works of art at the event. In addition, also on display will be film poster art illustrated by renowned movie industry artist and legendary surf artist Phil Roberts, who has captured the vibrant colors of Tahiti and excitement of the wave at Teahupo’o.

The Ultimate Wave Tahiti is a Stephen Low Film, created in association with K2 Communications, havoc Television and jointly sponsored by Suzuki, Tahiti Tourisme and Quiksilver. The producers would also like to thank the sponsors for the Los Angeles world premiere, including: Hinano Beer, Sailor Jerry Rum and redleaf water.

The film officially opens to the public at the California Science Center’s IMAX Theater on February 12, 2010. For more information on film dates and locations worldwide, please visit ultimatewavetahiti.com or join us on Facebook at The Ultimate Wave Tahiti.”
