Good morning everyone! We are back with another installment of our “Conversation with a Legend” series featuring one of our Tahiti Specialists, Noy! With her many years of experience selling travel and her genuine excitement when it comes to working with her clients to plan the perfect vacation, she is a wonderfully positive addition to our team! We are very excited to share her story, her tips for Tahiti travel and some photos from her previous travels to our destinations with you all today!
How did you get your start selling Tahiti travel?
I saw a commercial about New Zealand many years ago and fell in love with the idea of travel and decided that I wanted to learn more about certain global destinations, which is what got me started! I went back to school and took travel & tourism courses and have been selling the South Pacific ever since.
What makes this industry so exciting?
I love traveling and seeing the world. Getting to see the destinations and people are so rewarding. I get to see the most beautiful destinations in the world and in turn, get my clients to the most beautiful destinations in the world!
What is your favorite part of your job?
I love hearing from my clients after they get home! It is so much fun to relive the trip with them and hear what an amazing and memorable experience it was for them.
Most memorable experience you have planned for a client.
Oh that’s tough – there are so many of them! But off the top of my head, I am most excited about a trip I am planning for some of my repeat clients. I’ve been with Tahiti Legends for 16 years now and these clients have booked Tahiti with me since day one. This year, they are still visiting Tahiti but have decided to expand their trip to also include New Zealand and the Cook Islands for a month-long vacation departing next month. I cannot wait to hear all about it!
What is your favorite experience you have had on a trip to Tahiti?
My favorite experience was a year and a half ago when I took my son for the first time to Moorea and Bora Bora. Like so many children look for nowadays, he based his trip itinerary on WiFi connection! However, watching him experience the true beauty of the islands, stay in an overwater bungalow, and enjoy the various excursions (especially the helmet dive in Moorea!) for the first time was truly something I will treasure forever. My favorite business trip down to Tahiti would have to be when I visited Tikehau and Rangiroa. To be able to walk across one lagoon to another lagoon was unreal. And their beautiful pink sand beach is something you have to see with your own eyes! And also, the best snorkeling I’ve done has been in Rangiroa at the Hotel Kia Ora!
How many times have you traveled to our destinations?
At least 40.
What is your personal travel style?
I love nature and immersing myself in the beauty of the destination. I can’t get enough privacy and seclusion while I’m gone – I like feeling like I’m escaping the world for a bit. And I always look forward to the local food (which is always great!) and learning about new cultures.
Best piece of advice to people planning their dream vacation.
Plan your vacation based on your interests and what you want to experience. Don’t settle for less just to save a few dollars.
Best picture spot in Tahiti.
Now this is a hard one! There are so many stunning spots! But the one that stands out to me was when I was at the Hilton Bora Bora Nui (now the Conrad Bora Bora Nui) at their hillside spa location. The view of the pristine lagoon and the overwater bungalows sprinkled below is a sight to see! Still one of the best pictures I have ever taken in Tahiti!
What destination or experience is still on your list?
Switzerland, Iceland (really anywhere I can see Aurora Borealis!), Crater Lake in Oregon, and so many more! My list is still long! 🙂
