Here at Tahiti Legends, we believe that every trip and every love story is truly legendary. As such, we take extreme care when planning vacations with our clients, providing a level of customer service that our clients and their travel plans deserve. Although we do love planning the intergenerational family trips, anniversaries, and just because trips, we have a special place in our hearts for weddings and honeymoons.
This is the story of two of our legendary lovebirds, Ninoy and Fiona from Thailand, and their surprise wedding at the St. Regis Bora Bora Resort. Read on for Ninoy’s retelling of this fantastic memory!
“I always wanted my wife to be the luckiest person in the world, and a wedding at the St. Regis Bora Bora Resort made it happen for us. To marry an angel, you have to come to heaven. You have to come to the St. Regis.
My name is Ninoy, and my wife Fiona and I are from Bangkok, Thailand. And in fact, we got married at the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok with a formal Thai ceremony a year and a half prior to our trip to Bora Bora. The wedding at the St. Regis was a surprise for my wife and a dream of mine. Two months before our wedding, I had the opportunity to spend a month in Honolulu. Watching couples take wedding photos with the picturesque scenery of the island made me realize that I had to get married again with my wife in Bora Bora.
I started planning the trip three months before our visit. Amazingly, through prompt email replies and attentive correspondence, we were able to pull this together within 14 days! One of the hardest things was to keep the wedding a surprise from my wife for 3 whole months!
On the day we arrived in Bora Bora, I was overwhelmed with the welcome we received from the Bora Bora airport to the hotel’s main dock. The atmosphere was so warm and kind, as if they knew how much of a dream come true this trip was for us. The coordination between Tahiti Legends and the hotel staff made for a seamless vacation, you truly feel like a special and honored guest!
I revealed the surprise to my wife 48 hours before the day so she had time to prepare physically and spiritually. Since it was a surprise, we went to the Wedding Boutique and were able to find the perfect dress. We also spent the day before at the Miri Miri Spa which I highly recommend! The body scrub, facial spa, and pedicure are all so refreshing and revitalizing for your mind and body – perfect when you’re getting ready for your big day!
We got married on Sunday, July 24th at 4:30pm. On that day, heaven came down to Earth and I married an angel. We both felt extremely excited – the love, warmth and special feelings of yet another dream coming true in such a magical, mystical place are so hard to articulate into words.
Our ceremony started at 4:30pm with the General Manager presiding, and the lagoon and Mt. Otemanu serving as our witnesses and silent audience. We did have a ukulele player playing tunes during the ceremony but the only thing I could hear at that moment was the sound of my heart pounding. It had been almost two years since our formal wedding in Bangkok and after spending that time together, understanding each other, and adapting and changing for each other, it was very emotional for both of us to renew our vows and reaffirm our love for each other at such a special place. After the ceremony we had a short break with champagne prepared for us to celebrate while listening to ukulele tunes and taking pictures while the sun was setting. It was just the perfect setting for a perfect wedding! It was a magical day that Fiona and I will cherish together for the rest of our lives; a special day to celebrate a lifelong love with the person you are meant to be with.
This day would not have been possible without the help and efforts made by the hotel staff, Lisa at Tahiti Legends, and the many other people that we worked with. We have been to 11 hotels during our 2-month honeymoon from Niagara Falls to California to Polynesia – none of them come even close to comparing to the St. Regis Bora Bora.
Tahiti Legends changed our lives and made our dreams come true during that epic trip. Everything was so smooth and well taken care of, not only the details of our wedding week in Bora Bora but over 3 weeks, 7 islands (Bora Bora, Tahiti, Moorea, Huahine, Rangiroa, Nuku Hiva, and Hiva Oa), and countless flights. It was absolutely perfect! Our agent, Lisa Corso, has a special talent for getting everything booked as her clients wish.
Thank you for making our 10 days and 9 nights in paradise so unforgettable. It was a dream come true; a memory that never fails to bring a smile to our faces and a recollection that brings great warmth to our hearts every time we smile about it. We owe you! Thank you so much from the deepest part of our hearts! Mauruuru a million times!”
After seeing those pictures and hearing Ninoy’s retelling of their story, I’m not sure how you wouldn’t add this place to your bucket list! It was truly our pleasure working with this couple and we are thrilled for their lifetime of love and happiness ahead of them.
