As Earth day rapidly approaches (April 22nd) we would like to highlight two wonderful activities found at the InterContinental Moorea Resort & Spa that are dedicated to the conservation and education of French Polynesia’s pristine ecosystem.
The Moorea Dolphin Center allows its visitors to interact with several bottle-nose dolphins in a variety of programs. You can meet, swim or dive with these intelligent mammals after hearing a brief presentation about French Polynesia’s fragile lagoon environment. All proceeds acquired by the Dolphin Center are used towards marine wildlife research including the education of local elementary school children on the importance of protecting the marine environment.
The InterContinental Moorea Resort & Spa is also home to the Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Center and is managed by the non-profit organization ‘Te Mana O Te Moana’. The Rehabilitation Center serves as a hospital for ill and injured turtles rescued from the surrounding islands of French Polynesia. Through the motto of “conservation through education” Te Mana O Te Moana promotes environmental awareness to both the local population and the public.
