At this small peninsula on Tahiti’’s north coast, Captain James Cook observed the transit of the planet Venus across the sun in 1769. This low, sandy
peninsula is covered with ironwood trees and is located 1.25 miles from the main road.

A public garden now surrounds a tall white lighthouse (Built in 1868) is now a very popular place for picnics.
